2008 - Thailand and Cambodia

Travelogue

There it was again - the itchy feet. This time it should be something special. We really wanted to see Angkor Wat, the largest and most famous temple complex in Cambodia.

But first we were back for 3 days in Bangkok, of course again at the Mariott Riverside hotel. In Bangkok this time we have visited the Grand Palace, Chinatown and made a boat trip with a longtail boat through the Klongs of Bangkok.

Then we went to Siem Reap, where Sotheara and his friend Boon (our Tour-Guides) showed us the beautiful

points of interest of this really big arreal, the different temple areas and the Tonle Sap, the biggest lake in Asia. A highlight was certainly the helicopter ride over the temple area and the lake. Overall, we stayed 3 days in Cambodia.

From Siem Reap we further went via Bangkok to Trat, a small airport on the mainland in the far east of Thailand. With a minibus we went by ferry to the island of Koh Chang, also known as the Elephant Island.

We stayed there for 10 days in the wonderful 5* Hotel Panviman Resort at the Klong Prao Beach. With rented scooters we explored the island.

Overall, we have approx. 1.000 pictures made on this trip.
